Town Hall Christmas Market Dusseldorf

Christmas market in front of the town hall

In the market square in front of the historic town hall, numerous artisans offer their goods at nostalgic stands. Among them, a nativity scene from Bethlehem also produces life-size figures made of olive wood.

It is one of the hippest Christmas markets in Düsseldorf and located directly in front of the Düsseldorf town hall around the equestrian statue Jan Wellem.

Beautifully integrated into the old market square in front of the town hall in Düsseldorf, year after year, a Christmas market district with huts, which in color and style reminds of the brick building of the historic Renaissance town hall in the heart of Düsseldorf's old town.

Iron worker, glassblowers and turners offer their goods. And even more: the artisans, like the candle dipper, offer the visitors to look over their shoulders during their work.

 Hidden gem:
An elaborately restored and almost 100-year-old carousel is the attraction for young and old on this square. Always worth seeing: the hand-carved, life-size crib from Bethlehem.

Christmas market at the Burgplatz

For some years, the castle square has been particularly popular with its festively lit "Wheel of Vision". Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Düsseldorf from the bird's eye view.
The beautifully illuminated, 55m high Ferris wheel on the Burgplatz in the heart of the old town will turn again. The elaborately and lovingly decorated, cozy stalls are definitely worth a visit.

Angel market at Heinrich Heine Place

The sandstone facade of the topclass Carsch-Haus department store will set the tone for the colour scheme of the Angel Market. The music pavilion on Heinrich-Heine-Platz, an art nouveau masterpiece, has inspired the builders of the market huts to adorn them with floral motifs and angel figures in wrought iron.
Millions of small lights in the trees, small romantic boulder alleyways and Christmas music create an incredible mood.

Hidden gem:
The music pavilion with really tasty white mulled wine.

Starlet market at the city bridges

In the inner courtyard of Wilhelm-Marx-Haus, the starlet market is radiant, thanks to the highly impressive lighting design. Once you enter the courtyard – lined with snow-covered huts, countless crystals and glittering stars – you start to dream. With its decorations “floating” high above the visitors heads, it’s a magical feast for the eye, particularly in the evenings.

Hidden gem:
Ages ago it was a hidden gem of the Christmas market visitors

Igloo village at the Schadowplatz

The wintery-white Schneehüttendorf reminds of the Christmas atmosphere of Scandinavia.  A children`s carousel stands in the middle of the market. The huts are grouped around this central point. This creates a traditional, village-like structure in front of the backdrop of modern architecture– , as the entire market is embedded between the Schadow Arcades and the Kö arch designed by the star architect Daniel Liebeskind. The surrounding shops in the Kö-Bogen, Schadwo-Arkaden as well as on Schadowstraße leave no wishes unfulfilled during Christmas shopping.
Parents and children feel very well cared for, as there are many events for children there.
Hidden gem:
The Christmas market has already won awards in the past. Children friendly.

Christmas market on the Flinger Street

On Flinger Strasse, one of the famous shopping streets, you can see the Christmassy offers in the fashionable and hand-painted Düsseldorfer middle class houses. The Christmassy flair runs through the entire city center of Düsseldorf.

As a special highlight or much more than one of the most popular meeting points in the Christmas markets in Düsseldorf, the large and imposing mulled wine stand in the form of a windmill crib.

This was already culminated with the culinary Christmas market AWARD.

For many years, the mulled wine pyramid, well known all over the city limits, is responsible for every-night pedestrian chaos.
Here, no one remains alone for long,

Hidden gem:
If you are lucky you see that snow comes out of the crib if the host wants it.  So you can drink mulled wine in the snow
